Abstrakt
In work were presented of total content of Zn, Cu, Pb and salinity (measured
as electric conductivity) of soil humus horizon (0–30 cm) of green areas from the city
of Szczecin. Soil properties were analyzed according to distance from busy Słowackiego and
Wojska Polskiego Streets. It was found that salinity and content of metals in soils decreased
with increasing distance from roadway. Road deposits caused a clear increase of salinity in the
soil located to 12 m from road edge but it was not achieve the level of 2 mS · cm–1, considered
as serious salinity. The investigated soils were most contaminated by lead. In the zone up to 7
m from road, content of this metal shown medium pollution (IIIº) and amount more than
permissible acc. polish legislation. Zinc and copper were accumulated on the levels of
increased content (Iº) and weak pollution (IIº) but not having exceeded acceptable levels.
Among studied urban green areas, the most saline and polluted by metals was the object
surrounded by four busy streets, which resulted in the cumulative impact of transport deposits.
